This year marks LiveHeart Events’ very first festive season, and we’re approaching it the way we approach every event: through research, real conversations with clients, and design mock-ups before a single piece of decor goes up. As a growing event designing and planning company in Ahmedabad, this festive season is giving us the chance to bring our design process into a whole new category of celebrations.
We recently completed our first Ganesh Chaturthi mandap decoration project for a client in Ahmedabad, and it’s already taught us something we’ll carry into every festive brief going forward: getting a traditional look right is harder than it sounds.
Our client wanted something rooted and understated, a traditional Ganpati decoration that felt authentic to the festival itself. We designed an artificial green grass backdrop, topped with a fresh floral border, and layered with traditional hanging tasseled ornaments across it. It’s a simple concept on paper, but getting the placement and density of the hangings right enough to feel festive without cluttering the greenery took a few rounds of back-and-forth before we landed on the final look.
This is the kind of brief where restraint is the hard part. It would’ve been easy to add more, but the client trusted us to know when to stop.
Going into our first Ganesh Chaturthi season in Ahmedabad, we expected to be leaning on bold, statement-heavy design. Instead, our first brief reminded us that a traditional mandap has its own kind of complexity knowing exactly how much is enough. That restraint-first approach is one we’re carrying forward as we take on more festive decoration projects in Ahmedabad this season.
